Folk Village
Tour Yunnan starts from Yunnan Nationalities Village
Miao Minortiy Village

Most of the Miao people engage in farming on the mountain slopes. In Yunnan the Miao minority group has a population of 1,04 million , making it one of Yunnan’s bigger ethnic groups. Habitats of the Miao people have included almost all parts of Yunnan Province, among which the ones with Miao population exceeding 50,000 are Guangnan, Jinping, Pingbian, and Maguan Counties. Offspring of an ancient, frequentiy migrating ethnic group, the Miao people worship their ancestors, who could be traced 5,000 years back to the “San Miao” people and “South Nomads”. In the long process of evolution, the Miao people have developed their own indigenous language. Miao embroidery is praised as one of Yunnan’s unique handicraft feats, and the lusheng (a reed-pipe wind instrument) dance of the Miao people impresses visitors with eye-dazzling movements and colorful costume of the performers. The representative celebration of the Miao people is the “Flower Mountain Festival”, which is locally referred to as “cai hua shan”.

The Miao Village is constructed to simulate ite typical setting on the mountainous terrain. The “Diaojiaolou-style” house, which features a wood-frame building with wood-board walls, has distilled the architectural gist of the Miao ethnic group. Displayed inside the Building are ethnic costumes and hand-embroidered handicraft works, while the house itself has vividly portrayed the daily life of the Miao people.
