Dulong Minority Village

With a population of about 6,000, the Dulong minority is one of Yunnin's indigenous ethnic groups. Dulong people live in compict communitiei at  Dulongjiang Township of Gongshan County.  Primarily engaging in agricultural production, the Dulong people also run animal husbandry. Ancestors of the Dulong minority had migrated from Tibet and Northwest Yunnan to the Dulong River reaches. Language of the Dulong minority falls into the Tibeto-Burman branch of the Sino-Tibetan Family. Huge mountains had not only separated the Dulong people from the outide world, but also helped preserve the earliest features of their language. For this reason, the Dulong language is praised as "living fossil language" . The Dulong people, worship the nature, and throughout the year, they have only one big celebration known as the  "Kaquewa Festival” , which is their New Yeir's Day.

The key architecture in the Dulong Village is a typical  "Muleng-style house"  with wood-board walls.  This house is usually for a mother and her son, and the scene vividly portrays the routine life of the Dulong people.

By the side of the house is a "Tree-top dwelling". which recalls the history of the Dulong people.
